EV Social Complex is proudly located in Kinloch, Missouri—the first African American–incorporated city in the St. Louis region, a community celebrated for its culture, resilience, and historic significance. Deeply connected to this legacy, our venue was created to serve as a welcoming and versatile space where people can gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories.

History and Significance of Kinloch, MO
Establishment:
Kinloch was developed in the 1890s and later grew into a major African American community—especially after the 1917 race riots in nearby St. Louis, which led many Black families to seek refuge in Kinloch. It ultimately became Missouri’s first incorporated Black city and an important segregated safe haven for Black residents during that era. [thehistorymakers.org]
Historic Aviation Milestone:
In 1910, Theodore Roosevelt became the first U.S. President to fly in an airplane during an exhibition at the Kinloch aviation field, marking a groundbreaking moment in American aviation history. [thehistorymakers.org]
